QUESTION: Why would Crosby let Draper put his name on a fife? Is this a Crosby Model, made for Granville Draper by another fife maker? Or….is this a true Crosby fife, made by Crosby , and sold by Granville Draper? More research needs to be done.

Features:
Length of Instrument
-the fife is 17 1/8 inches.
Wood -the instrument is made of, what seems to be, ebony.
Key of instrument -Bb.
Finger Holes -different sizes
The spacing on the holes is as follows:
1-2=.735
2-3=.740
3-4=.846
4-5=.677
5-6=.719

This shows that the hole pattern is not even.
Swell -the swell on this instrument comes right before the embouchure hole.
Ferrules - Ferrules are made of nickel silver, knurled with the following: Top ferrule has
1+1 knurling. Bottom ferrule has the same. Both seem to be made out of seamless tubing, or I just cannot see the seam. Top ferrule is 1.939 inch in length; bottom is 1.32 inch, and both are tapered..
